: floatbag system, many folks have mentioned that the floats sold by the
: Broze brothers (Mariner kayaks), are a good choice and come with
: extra-long inflation hoses. I may try these on my next (H.C. Petersen
: style) skin boat, or find a way to make my own.

Northwest River Supply has a set of excellent sto-floats. They have a taper and size that fits well into the nose and tail of my kayaks and expand to fill all of the space. I use them in hardshell singles and doubles and in folding doubles.

I think they would work well in your skin boat also.
I agree that a sea sock (even tho I don't like them a lot) is the best protection.
