Larry--

The failure was in the cockpitcombing done with laminated strip as in nick's book. The bond seemed in for quite some time but a short period in hot sun caused the wood layers (at the front of the combing) to seperate where they bend sharply.

Possible reasons include improper epoxy penetration; improper mix ratio; cool temperatures and others, i cannot say for sure. I have reworked the combing and have had no further problems.
