: I’ve been doing weight checks on my walrus.
: Frame with floor ready to be covered. Frame is coated with epoxy: 24 lbs
: Canvas skin attached: 7 lbs
: First coat of paint applied: 2 lbs
: Cowling, rub strips, keel strips and mounting screws: 4.5 lbs
: Put this all together with 3 applications of paint or sealant and final
: weight comes out to 41.5 lbs
Nice job Roger! Wish I had taken weights too. Using your numbers I'm estimating my canvas and paint were probably 15-17 lbs! (I had a taller deck and deeper hull => more canvas). Any way you cut it, that's a lot of weight for a covering.
BTW: I figured out why my Walrus came out so heavy. When I asked for "rustless" staples they must have given me those special ones made of lead
