I used 3/4" BC grade plywood for both my boxbeam strongback and my forms. Seems good and stable. Easy to staple as well. There are some posts in the archives comparing form material and most say to stay away from particle board.
I used about 3/4 of a sheet for my forms and it was $20/sheet.

OSB is supposed to be okay as is MDF. Although I think MDF is pretty hard and tougher to staple than plywood.
