In Response To: non-backed velcro source (Grant Goltz)

: I have found unbacked velcro at every fabric store I've looked in. It isvery common. There are several widths available, and some is designed to have a stronger "grab", so you have lots of varieties to choose between.

If you are looking online for these materials try Jo-Ann fabrics at:

They also have velcro adhesive,so you can make the NON sticky back stuff into sticky back stuff -- giving you the best of both worlds.

I only saw the narrow velcro (1 inch wide) on their site, but I've seen wider stuff in the stores. Of course you can put down several rows of 1 inch wide strips to make a velcroed area as wide as you like. Since this is likely to be in a hidden area, it might be a less expensive method.

You can also place special orders through most fabric stores.. When you do this you usually avoid paying a shipping charge, but check with the stores for their particular way of handling such things.

hope this helps someone.
