I tried the one that Ross is showing but found it hung down too far for my taste. One set-up that works well is a lacing of bungies for misc. long items then a little zippered bag that Salamander makes attached over that. That way little items are accessible, the bag can be ripped out if needed in an emergency (1/8" elastic on pinch clips) but things like paddle float and pump are also available.
