I have often wondered why people complain so much about the planing and sanding. I enjoy it too. The final sanding can start to drag a bit, but that initial transformation makes it worth it and the effort just makes the boat look better and better.
: Just spent a whole afternoon first hand planing then faring with a homemade
: faring block like the one in Nicks book. What a blast!!! I would highly
: recommend everyone do this at least once in their lifetime. It is such a
: great feeling seeing your pile of sticks turn into a beautifully shaped
: boat. I will probably do a final sanding with the ROS but I don't think it
: will compare with today. Thanks for all of your very kind comments about
: my boat.
: I did manage to drop the bow on the floor from about 4 feet yesterday, I was
: rolling it over and it got away from me. Minor damage though, nothing a
: little duct tape, rope and glue couldn't fix.
