Patrick, Without getting into too much of analysis of global economics, you're probably getting screwed by the Brits again. I've bought hand tools in London and found the prices a lot better than here in the US. The demand for good hand tools here is limited. I have a couple of old Stanley blocks which are similar to the Record you've settled on. These are good tools and will probably out last us if we don't drop them on concrete. The Lie-Neilson is beautiful and will not crack if dropped, but the price is also breath-taking.
