Many thanks to all for invaluable information regarding the decision-making process for purchasing the appropriate respirator. As Kent suggested, I contacted www.labsafety.com, and spoke numerous times to their superb tech support(800-356-2501)....and have learned a lot! I also spoke with Larry at Raka who who faxed me a 'Material Safety Data Sheet'(MSDS). Interestingly, epoxy companies have proprietary chemicals they would understandingly not want to reveal. Larry assured me that an organic vapor cartridge would take care of the filtration for Raka epoxy and hardener.
The techies at LabSafety.com explained that respirators could be used alone with n95 filters(for particulates of sawdust, epoxy, fiberglass), or saddled along with an organic vapor cartridge. And, that a p100(particulate filter) could be ordered as a combo with an organic vapor cartridge. The n95 is 95% efficient, the n100 is nearly 100%. He said that for sawdust, most order the n95. He emphazized that the half-mask respirator with an n95 or p100 would be far more efficient than any paper mask with any filter as one would have a far superior sealing quality against the face.
LabSafety.com has a large assortment of choices, cartridges, and knowledgeable and patient tech staff.....would highly recommend them.
Now...off to cutting strips, and mounting stations this weekend. This OI is my first attempt at building. I have curiously been following Ross and Ben's posts...will be posting building questions and pics and look forward to all of your great advice and support.
Again...many thanks for all the suggestions.
