: I think the first look we had at this type of deck holddown was from Pete Rudie. I have used his idea on two boats now. his design was for a 3/32 stainless pin thru the side, which I still use but now cover up the pin with a piece of cedar, so most people think it is a wood pin. I have had no problems with excess load as mine are backed by larger plates of 4mm ply. In my latest stripper boat I didn't have hardwood that matched my deck color so I made the inserts out of hard maple and laminated a piece of cedar on the very top to match the deck color. Somewhere back in the achives there must be Pete's original design. ,addison
