http://www.vsg.cape.com/~eklein/hires/fhatch.html better shows the turtles our friend Jen made (we built the boat with and for her). I think it took her longer to carve the turtles than it took to build the boat. They are made of sapele and are about 1-1/2" When she first mentioned doing it I was skeptical but after she finished them I thought they looked great. She had various friends carve shell patterns on them so each one is different.
