If I'm not mistaken someone on this board was experimenting with using a jam cleat and rope, rather than the hooks to position Eric and Nicks style footbraces. Seems like it might be a nice way to go, easily adjustable and no hooks to get caught up on. I'm going to try it if I ever get to that stage.
Working on the kayak occasionally and chasing young kids around (more chasing than kayak building).
