Hi Tom;
If you look closely at your saw, you'll see that it's a universal motor (AC/DC with brushes) that is geared to the saw blade. It probably screams like a banshee before you ever apply the wood to the blade. A proper table saw has a capacitor start AC motor that belt-drives the saw blade. It is almost silent until you bring the wood into contact with the blade. Aside from the incredible noise the universal motor/gear train brings to the party, it will function OK for simple non-critical tasks. I would never own one, however, as it is just a poor excuse for a real table saw. Been there, done that . . .
Save up and get something you'll enjoy using instead . . .
