I haven't tried it, but I'd imagine that hot glue would not adhere to duct tape. The problem I've had with duct tape on form edges is that if you use plywood or osb, the duct tape unsticks itself after awhile. Maybe its my cheap duct tape or maybe it's something about the wood itself. It's not a big deal if you're stapling through it - it will stay in place and prevent your strips from being permanently anchored to the form.
