Perfectly understand, was just wondering why there wasn't perfect spacing on the middle form. the safe bet is to put it in the middle so I think that is what i am going to do. I just don't remember this being a problem on my last boat, the exped. There were a few other problems though due to my misalignment of the forms so I am being extra careful and precise this time. I am also building the low deck version and don't want to lose an inch in the cockpit area. I would rather shorten up the bow forms by a 1/8" each to make up for it.

btw Are you building a heron now?

thanks tom

: Tom, remember that the form is only a representation of the kayak at the one
: point on the outside edge of the form with the paper on it. On most forms
: the wood strips will only touch one side of your 3/4" form, on the
: forms towards the bow the strip will touch the edge closest to the bow, on
: the stern side, the edge closest to the stern....now that I think about
: it, it probably doesn't matter how you position the center form. I put it
: towards the stern, in other words, the side with the paper on it was on
: the line and the rest of the form was on the stern side. The center form
: is really the only one where the strip is going to sit flush.
: Confused?
: Hope this has helped in some way. :)
