I plan to glass my Outer Island hull prior to stripping the deck, which is the same order I used when building the Panache. On that project, I tried to limit the moisture transfer with a plastic barrier. I have no clue if it was truly effective, but I didn't have any problem with the hull distorting. Here's what I did: After the hull exterior was glassed and the boat positioned for deck stripping, I placed a sheet of plastic the length of the boat, sliced the plastic at the forms, and sealed the plastic close to the interior surface of the hull using duct tape. The side benefit is that you get no glue drops on the interior of the hull when you strip the deck. I'll probably do the same thing with the OI - can't hurt.

: I am getting closer to finishing the stripping of the hull (Return). Joe
: Greenley instructions call for fiberglassing the outside of the hull first
: and then to strip the deck. Stripping the deck will take me somewhere
: between 2 weeks to 4 weeks. I am concered that I run into the curling
: problem due to moisture changes - I am working in garage. Tom Moore
: suggests the same, while Nick strips the entire boat.

: I am planning on putting the forms back in, when I don't work on the boat.

: Are there any thoughts on what the safest way to avoid curling problems. With
: fiberglass on one side, the hull won't be able to equalize any more.
