It depends on the shape of the shear. The Guillemot kayaks seem to have a very rounded shear while Tom Moores designs have a sharp angular change. Joe Greenley's kayaks are somewhere in the middle, a feature I actually like very much. With a rounded shear it is very difficult to do the fairing in two operations, while the kayaks with a significant angle change are relatively easy to shape in two operations.

: Interesting to hear that you are planning on glassing hull before stripping
: deck. I had not even concidered that. I have just finished stripping the
: hull. Staples still in, not faired, external stems not installed. I was
: planning in starting to strip the deck tonight.
: My plan was to (in order)
: - strip hull & deck
: - remove staples - (leaving some at the sheer)
: - initial cleanup of glue and stem ends
: - install external stems
: - fair, fair, fair
: - fill cockpit recess
: - glass deck & hull, in and out
: - join halves
: - coming (construction and glassing)
: - hatches and outfitting
: Am I off base here?
: When should I install flush deck fittings?
: What are the benifits of glassing the hull before stripping the deck?
: wouldn't that make fairing board work, in the sheer line area, difficult?
