The real beauty of this construction method is that it doesn't take fancy equipment to turn out a really good looking boat. Once the strips are cut, which can be done on a borrowed saw, the tools I have used the most are a pocket knife, a $15 hand plane, duct tape, and...restrain yourselves here...a staple gun. I promise to repent and try stapleless next time maybe.

Another thing I have really enjoyed is the opportunity for creativity. I wasn't able to visualize what I wanted the boat to look like in the beginning, It really evolved as the result of many small decisions as I went along. I like the fact that it takes a lot of time to build. My life has slowed down a little and I have had time to listen to some good music, and good preaching, while I'm working. I'm sure that the amount of satisfaction I will get from paddling this boat will be so much higher because of the effort I have put into it.

I hope this can be an encouragment to another person who, like me, thought they weren't talented enough to take on a project this big.
