Hi Mick,
The stringline works great, and I use it for the initial setup and alignment. I only use the laser pointer because I happen to have it. It is the size of a fat ball-point pen. I just shine through the same holes that I had the strings through. If it still comes out the other end, I know things haven't shifted too much. That's as close as forms need to be anyway, since there is more slop than that in how the strips fit on the forms. I try to not be too anal about alignment. Don't mount it at all - just use it as a straight shooting skinney beam red light flashlight. Nice to play with toys, mostly makes me feel good. Like having new tools.

: Hi Grant
: I found the stringline approach very straightforward and it sounds as if the
: laser does the same for you. How big is the laser? Do you mount two of
: them on the strongback to get the straightness. Do you put plastic
: bullseyes across the 1/4 in hole to sight in the forms for the laser
: light. How wide a swath of light does the laser throw?
: Now you have to try front wedging the forms.(hehehe)
