: I was looking for a kayak calendar the other day and all I could find was
: whitewater. I thought of an idea that is probably too late for this year,
: but we could do next year.
: I'll start by saying that a couple of years ago each of my wife's brothers
: and sisters took some of their best pictures and put them all together in
: a collage that was printed on a calendar. Each page had several pictures
: on it. The calendar was then given to her Mom and Dad for Christmas. She
: thinks the price is somewhere around $20 per calendar.
: I was thinking that some of us could get together and make a calendar. Each
: of us could send one of our best kayak pictures with some $ for the
: calendar and shipping to one trustworthy person (not me, I'm too busy).
: That person could arrange them onto the calendar pages and have calendars
: made up. They would then mail the calendars and pictures back to each
: person involved. The benefit to the person doing the work is that they
: would get to arrange the pictures how they want.
: If too many people wanted to do it, then it could be split up into smaller
: groups of say Skin on frame, strip built, and stitch & glue.
: Does anyone want to nominate someone for next year?
Dale,
I just saw an ad. for a sea kayaking calendar (forget the name) listed on Amazon.co.jp, which is the Japanese Amazon site. I think the calendar had the word 'millenium' in its title...
After reading all the posts following your original post, I would agree that it would be nice to have a custom calendar.
Another idea is a single-page year calendar that has a single photo in the middle, or four smaller ones. Over here in Japan, the big film manufacturers offer this service. You simply take in the negative(s) for the photo(s) that you would like on the calendar and they make one for you. (you can even elect to have Mickey or Donald or...on your calendar, framing your photo). It takes about a week to get but it costs about ten dollars.
I do not know if this service is offered in the US, so if this sounds redundantly obvious, my apologies!
