The radial arm saw works pretty well. Hold down arms are available but I do not use them when ripping strips as they are not very effective with long boards.The anti-kickback pawls if properly adjusted are a very effective safety feature but I would remove the pawls on the fence side as they have a tendancy to slip between the narrow strip and the fence resulting a taper in the strip thickness. I ruined many strips before I realized that this was happening.
