Hi Nick;
Yeah, you're probably right . . . My concern was when I disconnected my strongback from the forms, most of them just fell over in the hull. If the hull weren't glassed as Rob instructs, it's shape would have been somewhat uncontrolled, and required a lot of work attaching the hull back to the forms. Frankly, I think I would prefer your internal strongback, as long as the sheers were really fixed in place.
While we're talking about it . . . The neatest way I've envisioned doing it incorporates your internal strongback, mick's need to rotate the assembly, and Edgar's fore and aft solid wood nose and stern pieces. Imagine an internal strongback that protrudes fore and aft, allowing complete stripping of the hull and deck with a simple pivot. Afterwards, Edgar's end pieces would be placed at the ends, after removal of the forms, interior glassing, and joining . . .
The internal strongback could protrude from the ends as perhaps 1" cast iron pipe, requiring only small wooden end caps . . .
Oooohhh, I think I like this idea . . . Spidey
