Last night I finally put the first strips on the forms for my new kayak. I am starting a Winters designed Q600. It has beeen years since I did a stripper, and I am doing this one because I was given the strips for free. I may even have enough leftover for something small, and I hate to waste good wood! The trick now will be to remember as many of the techniques I have read here, and to restrain my usual tendency to 'just get it done'.
I appreciate all the good info from this forum. I am planning on using Raka epoxy to glass it based on recommendations from happy builders, this despite having System Three left over from my latest sailboat project.
The plan now is to have it in the water in April, but who knows? Maybe it will be done earlier. I live in the Seattle area, and I can paddle in the winter if I really want to. Later is more likely, though.
