: look at the number of people reading the messages & compare it to the
: number
: of posts. there are so many people on this board that are keeping quiet, so I
: figure many of them don't have socks !
: I think I don't have socks too.
: I build s&g for the same reasons you mentioned: it floats & it's a
: wonderful kayak, so if you ask me, you are exagarating.....

: but one can't denie. you learn alot on this board. what am I talking about ?!
: you can't make your first wooden kayak without being on this board.

: & one last last thing, never be embarrassed to ask a silly question,
: there are so many people on this board, so there will always be few who
: will think any question is a silly one, hmm....well..... there will also
: be few others who will
: answer it with intension of helpin you.

: stop looking at the waves - back to the garage !

: build less, padle more !

I protest! I built my first when there is no BB -- the yak may look bad but it floots. I made that based on someone verbal discription like 3 arm length and waist + 2 fist wide... etc.
I made that out of spruce and cotton canvas and covered it with latex -- definately not the best method; but fibreglass is neither available nor cheap enough for a collage student 25 years ago. I have a blast paddling it. I have build 2 more since then, none look like those post here; but that does not prevent me from trying. I'm currently building a S&G Guillmot -- nothing to bragg about either.
Next one will be SB prospector, then if my wife does not throw me out first, I'll build a SB Guillmot.
I probably will never beat Ross, Ken, Spidey, Jerry, etc..., but I'll keep building better than my past
If you are like any of us here bitten by the yak bug, you'll keep coming back for more.
Good luck!
