Yes I did round off the bit protruding into the inside of the boat and I placed the fittings for the bungys in front of the cockpit right out to the sides so they wouldn't be in the way of my knees. It isn't that difficult to deal with the glass on the inside, just cut a cross and let the extra go up the sides of the fittings.
Sorry to hear about your weather - we are having about 28 degrees C and 17 hours daylight to enjoy the warm weather :-)
