I totally concur, Mike. The time spent critically setting up the table saw is well worth it. In fact, if you have a planer, it pays to rip the strips a bit oversize, then plane them to size. Not only does this remove the saw marks, but more importantly, it flattens the strips so that the bead and coves can be precisely cut. This leads to a much better fit of the strips on the form, which then leads to less hull thickness on the floor in the form of shavings and sanding dust. I just finished gang ripping (two 1/16" kerf blades) cedar planks up to 16 feet long, cutting them 9/32" thick. Then I passed them through the planer 3 or 4 at a time, taking off about 1/64" first, then planing the other side to .250 +/-. The bead and coves were then centered the entire length of the strips. Without a planer, make sure the saw is set up, feather boards tight, and recheck every few strips. Infeed and outfeed support is a must, regardless.
