if you are a woodworker looking for a project go for the plans. I built a Coho from the Pygmy kit and found the boatbuilding process largely an excercise in fiberglass techniques, with virtually no woodworking required. This is not a complaint, just an observation. The pre-cut kit parts are so precisely cut that they require virtually no alteration before stitching them together, and put the accuracy of my cuts to shame. I would guess that the panels are out no more than 1/32" over a 17.5' run.

That having been said, the boatbuilding process was fun, and I am now trying to think of an excuse to build a second boat. Maybe a strip built canoe . . .
