: Has anyone varnished their boat in the winter? Our local temperatures are
: running in the 40's at night and in the 60's during the daytime, with
: moderate humidity (for Florida). Other than a slightly longer drying time,
: is there anything I should look out for when varnishing in these
: temperatures? I am planning to use Flagship over System Three epoxy, as
: recommended by the Pygmy folks. Thank you.

I used a different combo - Interlux Schooner over MAS on my Patuxent, and in colder temperatures. I had a heck of a time with sags. The problem is that I could heat up the garage to a good working temperature (60s-70s) - but the varnish inside the can was still at 40 degrees (temperature of garage without heat on). The cold varnish did not apply well at all. If I had simply kept the varnish inside the house until I was ready to use it, the entire temperature thing would not have been an issue.

So my advice would be to varnish during the day, and take the can inside at night. You shouldn't have any problems.
