I have a few more strips to go on the deck, plus the cockpit recess yet to do. No progress is being made for the next couple of weeks though, as I am away from home.
I glued 36" long 1/4 by 1/2" pine strips to 1/4 by 1/4" walnut strips together until I had a "plank" about 9" by 36". The plank was ripped into 1/2" strips at a 45 degree angle on a table saw. This gave me strips about a foot long to join end to end. Some broke, but it worked quite well overall.
