: For anyone in the Portland area: Crosscut Hardwoods on NW Front Avenue is
: selling BS 1088 okoume (spelling?) at pretty great prices. The
: stitch-and-glue standard, 4mm, is less than $30 per sheet. Happy boat
: building!

I've got to put in my 2 cents worth about Cross Cut Woods. Beyond the many grades and thicknesses of Okume plywood, they have an incredible variety of woods including Teak, African Mahogany, and a bunch of woods I can’t pronounce. They also have Port Orford Cedar in 2”x6” form.

But here’s the biggie, Cross Cut Woods is a modern Skin-On –Frame museum. Some of the employees build SOF kayaks right inside the story and you’re allowed to gawk at them (the boats that is) as long as you want. The boats are very traditional in style, makeup and design. Other than the synthetic covers they are a step back in time.
