So far so good! It will do your heart good to see it finally taking shape, which will happen fast. That glue residue baffles me as well. I believe that this may be due to the glue having gone through a freeze cycle. Did it ever freeze? I hadn't noticed the residue during the warmer months and only noticed it when the bottle of Titebond I was using froze in an outbuilding. After thawing, it was the same story. I trashed it and now keep all my glue in a caddy on a shelf in my house. It can be aggravating in cracks and joints since it will show white under a clear finish. Maybe someone else knows for sure.
: Well, Things have been going alot slower than I wanted due to illness through
: the holidays. Spent most of my days off sick in bed instead of working on
: my North Star. I would just like to thank everyone on the board for the
: information that they shared as it has helped me get past a couple of
: hurdles. Being my first try at building a kayak it has been enjoyable so
: far.
: During my learning curve it seems that when I add a strip to one side I learn
: something new so when the same strip goes on the other side it is easier.
: I have also learned how delicate cove & bead can be. So the end
: results are I'll only allow people to view the good side when it's
: finished. I should be starting on stripping from the keel by the end of
: the weekend. I do have one question. Is it typical to get the white residue
: from the titebond II?
: It doesn't appear to hurt anything as it sands off easily. I'm stripping in a
: rather cool garage which only gets passive heat from my wood stove in
: another room when I leave the door open. I hope this doesn't affect the
: quality of the glue joint.
