I agree with your take about a shop vac for small tools. The December 2000 issue of "Wood" magazine reviews a number of vacuums. Based on the review I purchased the Shop-Vac brand featured there for my father-in-law for Xmas. It's a big boy compared to my Sears and my short experience with it was really good. Go to the link below and enter "shop vacuums" in their search feature and you will get more info that you may have wanted. I guess you can never get too much advice before making a tool purchase.
