: Hello All,

: I am real excited about building a Kayak for my son and I but I'm not quite
: sure where to start. I live in Alaska and am looking for something for the
: two of us to go camping and exploring in. I have looked at several
: different tandem designs and have a couple favorites. I know that I want a
: strip built due to the ability to do a little "cosmetic
: customizing". If anybody could start me out in the right direction or
: has some advice it would be greatly appreciated. Thank YOU!!

Daniel,

Get Nick's book. Get Ted Moores' book. Get the latest book from Chesapeak Light Craft. Read about using epoxy on the West System web site. Read every bit of literature that comes with the epoxy that you eventually use. And make good use of this and the CLC forum - including searches of the archives. But above all, have lots of fun, get a boat in the water, and go paddling.

If you are new to paddling, like lots of us, do as much research as you can on paddling skills and safety.

Sam
