Fill coat sanding

I'm wondering if there is a minimum waiting period before sanding a fill coat?

I lightly sanded a couple of spots 24 hrs after initial wetout just prior to the fill coat and they turned out kind of hazy, not quite clear after the fill coat was on. My guess was that I should not have sanded that soon. Is this correct?
