Illegal Kayak Security?

There's a very good reason why the company "used" to make these. Booby traps are illegal! I believe that this is federal law. If you use such a device and injure someone, you are liable for civil and criminal prosecution, regardless of whether the person was commiting a criminal act or not. The basic premise is that you cannot injure or kill someone for a property crime. The only time that injurious or lethal force may legally be used is when you are protecting yourself or others from bodily harm or death.

I realize that this may not seem fair, but it's the law.
