I have heard the same, only I have also heard that after clouding the epoxy and glass will delaminate, causing more than a visual problem The UV inhibitors are definitely to protect the epoxy, not the wood. If you have noticed what prolonged exposure to sun does to clear vinyl (i.e., turns it cloudy, brittle, and weal) you would not want this to happen to your boat. So I would not leave an unvarnished boat out in the sun much.
Anyone out there have experience with just how much sun it takes to destroy a epoxy/glass cedar strip boat? I have some concern even leaving my varnished boat out in the sun, since I am storing it outside all summer. I am working on a cover.
