I think a weekly washing in salt water will alleviate the harmful effects of having the kayak hanging in the basement.
: My kayak is hanging from the ceiling in the basement and is about 1 foot away
: from the fluorescent lights. Do I need to do anything to protect the kayak
: like hanging something between them to block the light?
On second thought, this is a cure for the paddler, not the boat. Of course, if you're wearing neoprene and all that fun stuff for winter paddling, you can hang it to dry next to the boat and provide a nice shade.
