I use bungees on the rear deck to hold a spare paddle. For the paddle I'm using, I typically either use a wrist leash and drop the paddle into the water beside the boat, or the paddle 'biner I have sewn tightly to the loop on my spray skirt. If I just want to get the paddle out of my way, I have a bungee across the deck up near the bow that I can tuck a blade under.
