Table hights seem to be a big part of this discussion. I have a heavy steel desk I use for an assembly table and sanding station. I built a shelf acoss the knee hole space and put a couple of outlets on it. That way sanders can stay pluged in and on the shelf, ready to go. Standard desk hight works great for large objects that need to be worked on but is to low for most things. What I did was to make stepped wedges with sides on them so the feet of the bench wouldn't fall off. It usually stays set at 36 IN but I can drop it down if I want to. The old desk is very sturdy, the drawers are great for sand paper, tools and drawings but the best part is that it was free. Steve
