I wonder

In Response To: Methyl Methacrylate (Pete Rudie)

: Methyl methacrylate is a good adhesive for this type of application, high in
: strength and low in viscosity. It is a 3-part mix, with resin, catalyst
: (methyl ethyl ketone peroxide) and promoter (a cobalt compound). Most
: retail resins are prepromoted with cobalt, which imparts a distinctly
: purplish cast to the mix. Some folks might object to splotchy purple on
: their gorgeous wood boats...

: Sidebar: Back in the '80s when this stuff first hit the specialty
: construction market, all three components came separately. The thing was,
: if you mixed them in the wrong order, the product was potentially
: explosive. Ergo, you can't get the unpromoted resin, throttle back on the
: cobalt and mellow out the color.

: If you want an alternative material with similar properties but no purple
: (apologies to my UW Husky friends), try vinyl ester.

I wonder if lexan would vaccu form around shawn's yak. Long sheet over his yak, turn on the heat lamps or put in Ian's paint oven, plastic gasket or some high heat sheet below, turn on the yacuum, form and let off heat. Somehow cut along seam line, discard excess and do same for hull, use the vinylester to glue up(maybe some seam mat'l) on inside.

Anothter idea is to just glass over Spideys perfectly finished yak with say 4 consistent clear layers of glass. Use same finish process on outside of this. (Rag) etc. Paint the float bags like internal organs. Paint sorta a spidey circulation system. Might attract the orcas at feeding time too. Ya'll get about 5 secs to look at them.
