So R, are you saying you have a bandsaw or access to one and not a table saw? If so, yes, the band saw will work very well. There are goods and bads about it, as was mentioned, it was not originally built for straight ripping. It MUST be adjusted very well to get an even, straight cut and having the proper blade will help emminsely. They get loose in the guide area very easily and need to be adjusted every now and then. I ran through the adjustments a few months ago, but, can't remember the thread or title so, If you would like to email me, I'll write it all down and you can check out the particular saw you are going to use.

If you have access to a table saw, they are an easier and more accurate way to go.
