Hi Pete
The only thing about basswood that some folks don't care for is that it has little visible grain pattern, and thus some think it doesn't end up looking really like wood. Guess that's a personal preference thing. Otherwise it is very light weight and is great to work with. Very flexible and not at all brittle.
