In Response To: Weight of skin? (Jerry Hayes)

: What are the approximate weights of the skin for an average skin on frame?

: I'm looking for examples, like: Painted canvas: xx pounds, 26oz synthetic: xx
: pounds, 9oz, etc.

: Also, what's the running favorite skin material? (Lightweight conditions,
: btw)
: Thanks!

Canvas from my experience is pretty heavy. The type and quantity of paint/sealer also make a significant difference. Mike Hanks has had good luck building a light weight SOF with a synthetic skin (9 oz polyester + polyurethane coating). Also Roger Nuffer was collecting stats on some of our SOF boats. I don't know if he still has them posted.
