I think Mike Hanks gets the credit for adding a long wood cleat with multiple attachment points (cant think of the name of it). I put them on one boat, and like it so well I modified the old boat,too. Looks good (wood), and has flexibility of bungee patterns. I saw a production boat that had the safety line on only one side up the foredeck, and made that change too. I feel your pain, the old Cape Charles is getting a few too many fill holes on it's sheer...
