The table of numbers is used to make a set of patterns for each station. Consider the table a series of x,y points which you will graph out one column of data to make each station. Just look at one column at a time. Once you have drawn and cut-out each station, you mount them on the strongback.

: baseline. We are having trouble understanding "table of heights,
: butts" Why dont you just make the pattern for each station and then
: mount the station at the correct elevation on the strong back?
