Dwight - I just ran a batch of cedar strips as Pete describes - feeding them with the rotation of the router bit. I got near perfect strips, no tear out, even when I had one with the wild grain from a nearby knot. I did get some separation of the grain as little strings on the inside of the cove, but only on a few strips that had the grain perfectly straight and parallel to the the length of the strip. They were no problem.

Feather boards are important, both ahead of and behind the bit, as well as above the strip right at the cutting point. Hope this helps. - John
