Looks French to me. I always thought it was Ghi-mo, however, _le Quillet (that's Key-eh) Flammarion dictionnaire usuel_ suggests that it's Ghi-ye-mo. From the _Concise Oxford Dictionary_: French, from Guillaume William. Here's another: Guillotine -> Ghi-yo-teen.

It's been bothering me for a while too. :-)
