: Hi Jim,
: If you can, post some pictures. I just started to work on my deck also and
: trying to come up with a design is causing me a lot of indecisions. I've
: drawn picture, got ideas from others and am trying to think it up as I go
: along. Does anyone else have these problems?
: John
My advice is, KISS (Keep It Simple Stu..(no insult intended)). The super fancy designs can become an overwhelming task and, if left uncontrolled, make the deck stripping process go from days to weeks to months to years to someday I should finish that kayak. It’s also more difficult to keep the wood tight with fancy multy angled lines when learning the stripping process.
I suggest using contrasting woods for effect and if you decide to run an angled strip through your deck, study other fancy kayak builders sites to study, study, study how they've done their tops.
Then again, maybe you should throw reason to the side and just GO FOR IT!
Roger
