Congrats on the nice looking kayak. I also built a merganser 16 last summer with my SO Clea. It is a great boat for her to paddle. Turns real nice when leaned on edge. it is a bit more tender than my Chessapeake at first though.

The Merganser we built was 4 mm hull, 3 mm deck, 6 oz cloth on the hull and 4 oz on the deck. Its so light making it easier for Clea to carry and car top by herself.
