greenland paddle

Would it make sense to construct a greenland paddle with a hollow core? I've looked at some threads here on paddle construction, but it seems the closest to this was when a while ago there was some speculation on how to join the birds-mouth hollow spar to greenland blades.

But maybe someone has already done this ie. laminated a blank that is hollow in the middle (30-34") and then shaped it the customary way. It would be probably be not much different from the many multi-layered beauties that we have seen pictures of here, but could turn out a lot lighter, if one were to stick to the lighter types of wood only.

Anybody done this already?
